Emergency Cuteness
For the past few weeks, I’ve been making myself feel better during moments of stress by gazing into the depths of adorableness known as The Panda Cam. If the government shuts down, all national parks, including the Smithsonian Institution will close. The Panda Cam will be shut down. Get your last glimpse of cuteness now!

Why would they want to close such places?
The Republicans want to reverse the Health Care Law that was passed three years ago and has slowly gone into effect over time. The final provisions start to go into effect tomorrow. So they attached a delay to a budget bill that is normally a routine matter to keep the government financed. So, all non-essential functions of the government are going to shut down. Government employees are being temporarily laid off. The National Zoo will be closed to visitors. I imagine they’re going to keep a skeletal staff to care for the animals, but things like the Panda Cam have come down.
I’m sure it will be reopened. However, it’s hard to know whether it will be a few days or a few weeks.
This is serious! I want my pandas and I want them now!
This is truly the cutest thing I have seen in a very long time! What a crying shame they have taken it down – have these people no humanity? Oh, no they don’t.
