Letter Design
I was so inspired by the letters that Meme used to spell out “Spring Fever” on her blog today, that I decided to try making a letter of my own using one of my favorite flowers, Spigelia. This isn’t exactly a sketch. It was made with Adobe Illustrator.
My flowers were just from a clip art disk I have. lol Nothing fancy like yours. But I do love making little things with Gimp and Inkscape. (They are free) Your illustration is really neat! I am happy I inspired you. 🙂
mixedupmeme at first thought you were IMPRESSED with her letters. But she is just as happy that you were inspired. 🙂
Do you use Inkscape? I’ve found it more frustrating than Illustrator. Gimp works very well and is a good alternative to Photoshop, but a while ago when I was doing a lot of design work I broke down and bought the Creative Suite. It was mainly for Illustrator, but it came with Photoshop. I’ve never drawn with Photoshop. I don’t know if you’ve seen the work of Maugryph, he’s done a lot of drawing with Photoshop recently, but he just put up a post about how he’s now using Artrage because he likes it better. There’s a free version of Artweaver. I’ve put up a few posts where I’ve drawn with Artweaver. They’re not very finished sketches, but I like the program. Artweaver isn’t good for photo editing, though.
Yes, I have a lot of fun with Inkscape. Not that I have mastered it………but I can follow a tut pretty well. Since it is all just for my enjoyment, I don’t need to buy anything. I just have fun. Make something, send it to a friend. The friend replies “Oh how nice” lol They don’t know that it really is a lot of work to make something. I did look at Maugryph’s site. Very nice.
I have even tried BLENDER. Didn’t get far. lol I still have the program. If you don’t keep up, you forget the how to part.
Oh my, Blender. That made me want to bang my head against the wall. I tried some of the tutorials I found online, but some of them, unfortunately the beginner ones, were written when a different version was current, or at least it looked that way. There had apparently been enough changes to make the tutorials useless. Anyway, I couldn’t do anything with that program. Just running it was a pain since whenever anything’s written in Python I seem to have the wrong interpreter installed on my computer.
I was just having a friend tell me last night that his brother loves Python. I’ve never programmed in it, but as a user I hate it. I’ve actually started avoiding downloading programs if they’re written in Python.
I’m such a complainer. I ought to stop now. By this time next year I may very well be thinking that Python’s the greatest thing since sliced bread and eating my words.
I just downloaded this:

a few minutes ago. Not having tried it much, I can’t vouch for it, but it looks interesting.
